Konyak Union summons BJP Mon unit for defying directives

Mon: The BJP leaders in the district have been called to the KU office on Thursday

The Konyak Union on Wednesday summoned the president and the general secretary of BJP, Mon district to KU office for defying the Union’s directive banning all political activities in its jurisdiction.

KU in its letter stated that it had issued two notifications till date cautioning political parties against any activities related to the upcoming General Election to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly and yet videos and pictures of the BJP party members protesting at the party office in Mon had come to its notice.

The BJP leaders in the district have been called to the KU office on Thursday at 11am. “Failing to comply with this call shall invite severe action against you,” it said.

Earlier, the KU asserted that it has resolved “to remain steadfast and firm to the 26th August 2022 ENPO resolution to abstain from participating in the upcoming 2023 NLA Election until the Govt. of India grant the demand of ENPO for a separate statehood befittingly.”

It further stated that the Union has resolved “to permanently expel those individual(s) filing nomination” for the upcoming elections from “Konyak soil” and added that “the village of the person filing nomination shall be held solely responsible.”
