The Chief Electoral Officer on Friday informed the nomination of Hayithung Tungoe Lotha, an Independent Candidate from 37-Tyui A/C under Wokha district, making him the first candidate to file nomination to the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly 2023.

A vibrant and active youth leader, Hayithung Tungoe Lotha had earlier contested unsuccessfully in the Nagaland MP (Lok Sabha) Election in 2019 as the National People’s Party candidate.

37-Tyui A/C is the constituency of Yanthungo Patton, Deputy chief minister of Nagaland from Bharatiya Janata Party. Patton has won three times from the constituency and has been given the party ticket for 2023 as well.

Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) has also declared the candidature of Senchumo (NSN) Lotha from the constituency.
