The Naga Students’ Federation on Tuesday organised peaceful demonstrations at strategic locations in the state capital Kohima for Prime Minister Narendra Modi in demand for early solution to the Indo-Naga political issue.
PM Modi as well as Union Home Minister Amit Shah were in Kohima today for the swearing-in ceremony of Nagaland’s Chief Minister and his 11 cabinet ministers.
NSF has stated that the one of the motives behind the demonstrations was to push the central government “to be serious and show utmost sincerity in their approach” to ensure that the solution to the protracted Indo-Naga Political issue is brought about at the earliest.
The display was also organised to “remind the newly elected representatives of the people to be mindful of the aspirations of the Naga people and put in more serious efforts as facilitators and not use the genuine and legitimate Naga Political issue a mere political Gambit”, it added.
Further NSF said that it wanted to openly show that the Naga youths and the student community are “yearning for lasting peace across the Naga homeland and that the generations which will inherit the solution shall no longer tolerate the division within themselves.”

“MODIJI KEEP YOUR WORD”, “NAGAS WANT INCLUSIVE, HONOURABLE AND ACCEPTABLE SOLUTION” and more were written on the placards and banners.
The apex Naga students’ body, its federating units and sub-ordinate bodies had strategically placed themselves at old MLA Junction, Phoolbari and NSF Martyrs’ Park, which is in front of Capital Cultural Hall, the venue of the ceremony.
