NDPP Wokha Region awards Tickets to 17 candidates for ULB Election 2024

Wokha: Mhathung Yanthan lauds NDPP as a principled party, emphasises action over words

The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) Wokha Region organised a Ticket Ceremony Programme for the upcoming Urban Local Body (ULB) election 2024 on Monday at Hammock Resort, Wokha where 17 intending candidates were awarded party Tickets.

Mhathung Yanthan, Advisor for Agriculture emphasised the significance of women’s participation and expressed confidence in the developmental strides their leadership could engender in his address.

Yanthan also commended the party’s meticulous candidate selection process, premised on merit, and encouraged all nominees to bring honour to the party.

Dr Chumben Murry extended his felicitations and congratulated all the candidates for securing the party ticket during the ceremony. He underscored the pivotal role of women in the decision-making process, highlighting their potential to usher in transformative changes. Murry also urged the candidates to uphold the party’s values, exert diligent efforts, and emerge victorious in the elections.

A total of eleven candidates were issued with the NDPP ticket where three women were from the reserved ward: Y Renthunglo Kikon, Nzanbeni Humtsoe, and Thungchano Kikon while two women from the General Ward were named: Grace Murry and N Grace Murry.

The remaining six candidates were men: K Lidemo Murry, Y Elabemo Kinghen, Khozamo Lotha, E Zuthungpemo Ezung, Limathung, and Hapenthung P Ezung, all staunch representatives of the NDPP.

Lithungo Murry and Grace Murry, ULB Candidates also delivered impassioned speeches during the ceremony, articulating the aspirations of the nominees.

The program was chaired by Pyingthungo Ezung, VP NDPP Wokha Region, invocation prayer offered by Oren Odyuo, VP NDPP Wokha Region. A welcome note was delivered by John Ezung, President NDPP Wokha Region, and Declaration of Candidature & Oath of Allegiance by T L Merry, Convenor NDPP Wokha Region, Election Committee (ULB 2024). Dedication of Party Tickets & Candidatures was offered by R Samuel Ovung, Associate Pastor WTBC, followed by a Vote of Thanks by Lily Kikon.
