The Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organization (ENPO) has convened a crucial Central Executive Council (CEC) meeting at Tuensang headquarter on 14 October. Key decisions on the demand of Frontier Nagaland will be taken during the meeting, informed a source.

The Central Executive Council (CEC) meeting is the highest decision-making platform of the organization and resolute steps will be taken up to further strengthen the movement.

The crucial CEC meet is being convened in the backdrop of a mass movement by the people of Eastern Nagaland that began from August of this year.

A mass public rally was held on 9 August in all the seven tribal headquarters of Eastern Nagaland. Then on 26 August, a resolution was adopted wherein the organisation decided not to participate in any central and state election process until and unless the statehood demand was fulfilled by the Government of India. The movement was further intensified by the ENSF which organized a mass public walkathon in support of the 26 August resolution across Eastern Nagaland on 7 October.
