The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department, has issued a weather update for the period from October 30 to November 3, 2025, cautioning that several districts are likely to experience moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms.

According to the NSDMA’s forecast, Meluri district is expected to experience moderate rainfall with thunderstorms from October 31 to November 2. The districts of Chümoukedima, Dimapur, Kohima, Longleng, Mokokchung, Mon and Niuland are likely to witness heavy rain and thunderstorms on October 31 and November 1, while Peren, Phek, Shamator, Tuensang, Tseminyu, Wokha and Zunheboto are expected to receive light to moderate rain at isolated locations on November 2.

The Authority cautioned that lightning strikes, strong winds and heavy precipitation could disrupt communication and connectivity during this period. Due to the risk of high precipitation in the hill sectors, lowland and foothill districts such as Dimapur, Niuland, Chümoukedima, Bhandari, Baghty, Tizit and Tuli are vulnerable to waterlogging and flash floods.

People have also been advised to disconnect electrical appliances, ensure water is boiled or chlorinated before drinking, and stay cautious around open drains and flood channels.

The NSDMA has further appealed to the public to exercise utmost caution during this period to prevent any eventualities. All District Disaster Management Authorities and line departments have been directed to remain on high alert to safeguard lives and property during the ongoing monsoon season.
