Director of the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie, Sriram Taranikanti, IAS, wrapped up a comprehensive two-day official visit to Mokokchung district of Nagaland on December 2, emphasizing the critical need for effective public service, strong leadership, and cultural preservation in the region.
Accompanied by his daughter, Dr Sai Shriya Taranikanti, the Director received a warm welcome upon arrival at the Commissioner Guest House Mokokchung by local district officials.
The visit commenced with cordial interactions involving the Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, other key district functionaries, and representatives from various Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).
Throughout the first day, Taranikanti engaged actively with local institutions. He toured the District Hospital, and interacted with medical staff on enhancing hospital management and improving biomedical waste disposal practices. He then visited a seed funding project operating under the Centre for Cooperative & Livelihood (CCL), LBSNAA, offering valuable inputs on marketing strategies to the staff.

Later, he visited the District Museum in the District Culture Office Complex, where he underscored his message on the urgent necessity of preserving and promoting the area’s rich cultural heritage.
The highlight of the engagement was a meeting held at the DC’s conference hall. The Director delivered a keynote address that highlighted the pivotal roles and responsibilities of public servants. He shared extensive insights on the nuances of good governance and leadership during an interactive session with assembled officials.
Earlier in the meeting, Ajay Moktan, IAS Assistant Commissioner, Mokokchung, provided a detailed PowerPoint presentation offering an overview of the Mokokchung district and Nagaland, sharing observations and key learning from his career in the state.
The Director’s tour concluded on the final day with visits to several villages in the district. He held an interaction session with village leaders and elders at the Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM) complex in Impur and made a final stop at the notable Mopungchuket village before departing for Sivasagar, Assam.
