Kohima:Students urged to stay safe from sextortion, phishing, vishing, deep fake technology

An awareness session on “Career guidance, Cyber Safety and Skill training” was conducted at Meluri town, by DEF PHEK in collaboration with Chakesang Students’ Union and Meluri town Students’ Union at Meluri Town Council Hall.

SP Phek, Dr. Pritpal Kaur IPS spoke on Career Guidance and Cyber Safety where she provided insights on various competitive exams and their study materials. Further, addressing the gathering on cyber safety, Dr.Kaur them to be vigilant with the rising cyber scams. In any case of cyber crimes, She briefed them to register their complaints via 1930 helpline or NCRP portal and further urged them to be cyber volunteers to spread awareness.

Speaking on Cyber space, ethical hacking, social media misuse and its prevention, Md. Sayeed Khan, NIT Professor urged the students to stay safe from sextortion, phishing, vishing, deep fake technology and other types of cyber crimes. He warned that apps downloaded these days should not lead to leaking of personal data, and urged the gathering to take protective measures by preventing the use of public wifi usage,fake chargers etc.

Povozo, from Chakhesang Students’ Union delivered the welcome address while Chistiaraho Po chaired the programme. Earlier the invocation was pronounced by K Kajiri, Meluri Village Baptist Church (MVBC) and the benediction by Rhothovi, General Secretary, Müluori Küchienyiri Kügharhü (MKK) Or Meluri Students’ Union
