The 25th edition of the Hornbill Festival witnessed a a surge in visitors with a total 2,04,986 visitors. Out of these visitors, 2527 were foreign tourists, 54, 306 were domestic tourists and the remaining were local tourists.
In 2023, the Tourism Department recorded a footfall of 1.5 lakh visitors.
This year’s edition marked the 25 years since the inception of the Hornbill Festival with Japan, Peru, Wales and the US as the country partners and Sikkim and Telengana as the State partners.
Over the course of ten days, Nagaland Tribune reporters interviewed local, foreign and domestic tourists who shared the positive aspects, challenges and constructive feedbacks of the Hornbill Festival.

One of the major setbacks according to visitors is the exorbitant rates charged on food and products.
Some suggested for better internet connection which will enhance business operations, especially for small entrepreneurs. Despite the efforts on waste management and ensuring a sustainable plastic-free, our reporters also highlighted the lack of civic sense and waste produced by visitors.
However, overall the Hornbill Festival experience has been a fulfilling one where both foreign and local tourists witnessed the vibrant cultural heritage of Nagaland as well as its neighbouring states.
