The two-day Constellation’22 Inter School Fest, organised by Assam Rifles Public School (ARPS), Kohima under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) and Project Empathy, culminated today.
On the second day, Nukkad Natak (street play) was organised as part of a Project Empathy activity. Five schools of Kohima, with ten students from each school, took part in the event – G RIO School, Modern Higher Secondary School, Christ King Higher Secondary School, ARPS Chieswema and ARPS Kohima.
During the two-day event, students were taught to become more confident about sharing their feelings and emotions with their peers and teachers. They were also guided on how to become more creative in giving expression to their ideas. They learnt that it is safe to openly talk about their fears and doubts without being judged by their classmates or teachers. The helps in addressing discriminatory thoughts and a sense of separation that children often experience from one another.
The project has thrived on storytelling, journaling, artwork, discussions, nukkad nataks and many such creative ways of introducing empathy and compassion to the school ecosystem.
The project highlights the importance of bringing such concepts more in the regular discourse of schools in order to sow seeds of change in the consciousness of students.
Certificates, card games and mementos were presented to each school by Vibha Lakhera, founder of Project Empathy and Brig Harjinder, chairman ARPS, Kohima. The patron, chairman and vice chairman of ARPS, Kohima were also present during the event.
