25 years old Kezhaseluo-o Pienyü from Kohima Village today emerged as the Champion of the 52nd Angami Sports Association wrestling meet held at Khuochiezie (Local Ground) Kohima. Kezhavizo Thevo secured the second position while Kevisier Dzüvichü secured the third position followed by Vaphizo Rutsa in the fourth position.
The valedictory programme of the 52nd Angami Sports Association wrestling meet was graced by MLA Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso, informed DIPR. In his brief address, MLA Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso highlighted on the history of the belt wrestling, stating that belt wrestling is one of the most popular games among the tenyimias, and elaborated that in the olden days when two individuals tends to argue or fight, they solve their differences by wrestling with one another. “Belt wrestling is a unity game bringing all the Tenyimia together and urged everyone to promote this game to different tribes,” said the MLA.

Also supplementing to the Chief minister’s remarks earlier, he mentioned that belt wrestling and free style wrestling has become very popular and therefore one should propagate to expand it to the international level.
Meanwhile, Kedowhesie Meyase declared 18 ASA wrestlers for the NWA meet 2024 which is scheduled to be held at IG stadium Kohima on March 26.
90 years old Mamho Chakrüno was announced the Ambassador of the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) meet 2024.
