The Association of Kohima Municipal Wards Panchayats (AKMWP) has threatened to return all the sanitation vehicles provided to the Wards/Colonies in Kohima Town if the approach road to the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) dumping site is not repaired by 27 July 2023.

The union had on 13 July submitted a representation to the Commissioner & Secretary, Urban Development & Municipal Affairs, Kohima, where it highlighted the deplorable condition of the road which is causing severe damages to the sanitation vehicles.

AKMWP had also mentioned that the sanitation fees collected from the residents were being “exhausted” in repairing the vehicles “which affects the maintenance of the drivers and labours.”

Thejao Sekhose, the president of the association, therefore urged for the restoration of the road within two weeks and threatened to return the sanitation vehicles if “no action is initiated”.
