A one-day workshop on Soft Skills was conducted at the Mokokchung College of Teacher Education (MCTE), Yimyu, Mokokchung on Wednesday under the theme ‘The Etiquette Edge: Developing a Winning Personality and Professional Demeanor’.
Imsurenla Longkumer, who has diploma in Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition, M.Sc Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Bachelor in Tourism Studies, was the Resource Person.
The first session of the workshop started off with an interactive session where the resource person emphasized the importance of cultivating a positive attitude and fostering a respectful personality.

The second session proceeded on the topic ‘Personal Hygiene and Grooming’, followed by the topic, ‘Body Language and Gesture’ where Longkumer highlighted on a speaker’s posture, listener’s posture, stance and eye contacts. The third session stressed on the importance of etiquette and how to deal with people in different situations.
Longkumer also elucidated the significance of effective communication skills. Lastly, the ‘24 carats of the winner’s personality’ were shared in order to develop the desired personality in every individual.
Earlier, the programme commenced with a welcome address from Imtimenla Jamir, Assistant Professor, MCTE followed by a formal expression of goodwill by MCTE principal Dr. T. Alemla Longkumer.
The event was attended by both the 2nd and 4th semester student-teachers and the teaching faculty and non-teaching staff of the college.
Quoting “You never get a chance to make a first impression”, the workshop focused on imparting knowledge on soft skills which is required for effective teaching and learning during internship programme and social events. The workshop culminated with reflections from the 2nd and 4th semester Student-Teachers respectively followed by a note of appreciation from Kereilhousa Peseyie, Assistant Professor, MCTE.
