In an interesting set of Quarter Final matches in the ongoing MDFA Trophy 2023, both Moanungsang MSC and Telongjem FC secured their places in the Semi Finals. Moanungsang MSC narrowly defeated NU Lumami 4-2, while Telongjem FC delivered a dominating performance, crushing Brotherhood FC 6-0 on Saturday at Imkongmeren Sports Complex in Mokokchung.

In the first Quarter Final, Moanungsang MSC and NU Lumami played with great vigour. Neilie Nagi (J/No. 11) of NU Lumami opened the scoring in the 15th minute, but Inovi Chishi (J/ No. 5) of Moanungsang MSC swiftly responded with an equalizer in the 19th minute. Meyasenba (J/ No. 10) of Moanungsang added another goal in the 42nd minute, only to be matched by NU Lumami’s Chingjun Y Konyak (J/No.18) in the 47th minute. However, Rongsenchiba (J/No.19) of Moanungsang took charge, scoring a crucial penalty in the 65th minute and sealing the victory with another goal in the 82nd minute, ensuring Moanungsang MSC’s spot in the Semi Finals.
In the second MDFA Trophy 2023 Quarter Final, defending Champion Telongjem FC left no room for doubt, delivering a spectacular 6-0 win over Brotherhood FC. H. Robinson Khongsai (J/No. 15) netted two goals in the 10th and 24th minute, while Nyithong Magh (J/No.7) impressed with a remarkable hat-trick, scoring in the 18th, 21st, and 45+1 minute. Shuruosul Zhotso (J/ No. 11) added one more goal in the 82nd minute, sealing Telongjem FC’s place in the Semi Finals.
On Monday, in the third Quarter Final, Konyak Students Union Mokokchung (KSUM) will face Super Seniors SC, and the Fourth Quarter Final of MDFA Trophy 2023 featuring KSR Team against Soyim Sports Society (SSS).
