The Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) as issued an order directing owners to maintain proper control of their dogs as per the Municipal’s regulations. The  MMC observed on the significant rise in the number of stray dogs roaming in the streets and pet dog(s) running loose out of the owner’s premises causing/posing harm to the public and creating unnecessary inconveniences.

“Therefore, in this connection, all dog owners are directed to observe proper control of their pet dog/dogs according to the rules and regulations laid down under the Mokokchung Municipal Council Dog Registration and Proper Control of Dogs; Rules and Regulations 2017,” stated the order.

Any dog found running loose in public places or in the streets, according to the order, will be viewed seriously and appropriate action shall be taken. No complaints shall be entertained from the owner on the action taken accordingly, added the MMC.
