DEF wins first edition of Inter-Departmental Sports Tournament 2023 in Mokokchung

The District Executive Force (DEF) clinched the Championship trophy in the 1st Edition of the Inter-Departmental Sports Tournament 2023 in Mokokchung, organized under the aegis of the District Planning Development Board. The closing function took place at the Indoor Badminton Stadium in Mokokchung on November 25. The three-day tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from government servants representing various departments in the Mokokchung District.

The District Executive Force (DEF) emerged as the overall champion among the 25 participating departments. The Forest department was recognized as the Best Discipline Team, and Bendanginla from the Forest Department was honored as the Player of the Tournament.

In his speech, Col. Rahul Gurung, CO 12 Assam Rifles, expressed gratitude to all departments for their support and commended the organizing committee for a wonderful event. He highlighted the significance of such unique tournaments in bringing government officials together, fostering friendship, and strengthening cohesion between departments.

Sentitula, IFS Divisional Forest Officer, Mokokchung, and Member of the Organizing Committee, emphasized in her closing remarks that it is a mandate for humanity to develop and utilize talents to the best of our abilities. She stressed the success of the tournament, attributing it to the active participation of all departments. She noted that sports not only enhance physical fitness but also contribute to intellectual and moral development, bringing departments together in friendship.

Er. Imlisunep Imchen, Principal of ITI Mokokchung and Member of the Organizing Committee, presented the Tournament Report. Stupid Longkumer made a special appearance, entertaining the audience with his original songs, while Imnakumzuk Jamir, Associate Pastor (Youth) of Kumlong Baptist Church, pronounced the invocation.

The three-day tournament, held from November 23 to 25, featured Badminton, Table Tennis Carrom, Chess and Arm Wrestling across the Indoor Badminton Stadium, Multi Sports Complex, and Indoor TT Stadium.
