The event was held on 10th August 2024 at Kohima Village Council Hall.

Dr. Alice urged the students to be persistent and consistent in their pursuit of their dreams and the fields of their interest, be it music, sports, academics etc. She said that just as the saying ‘Rome was not built in a day’, success in life does not come without practice, endurance and disiplined focus.

She said that “Failure” does not mean failure only in exams. She said that failure is “not willing to take challenges or set yourself targets; not willing to embrace change or make corrections in oneself; not willing to embrace change or learn new things”.

She said that the most important thing a student has is time and that how a student manages his/ her time will determine what he/she will become in future.  She added, “Value your time. Time cannot be recycled”.

Narrating her experiences joined Lady Hardinge Medical College at Delhi, Dr Vizo said that for the first few months, there was a lot of struggles as she had to compete with some of the best students from all over India, most having scored 98-99% marks in school. She said that being away from home for the first time in life also added to her struggle. She said that it was essential to come out of our comfort zones and prepare oneself for competition on an All-India level.

As she prepared to undertake UPSC exams, she narrated how she she committed herself saying, “I do not want to be the one who have high dreams but not ready to take the challenges and the small steps”. She highlighted the importance of setting realistic goals and dreams and working towards it with commitment.

She said that she has come across people and friends who tend to blame others when things do not go their way. She said that, “We as humans have a tendency to not look into our weaknesses but point to other people”. Dr Vizo said that we have to see our own strengths, and identify our weaknesses which we have to work on.

Urging parents to provide good environment at home for their children and to invest in them, she  said, “Invest in your children so that they create assets for themselves. Don’t create assets for them”.
