Minister Tourism & Higher Education Temjen Imna Along asserted that Nagaland and the Peoples Democratic Alliance (PDA) under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio is privileged to host the G20 Summit. He said Nagaland is opening up in a very big way which he believed the people have realised as well.
Along said this while speaking to a section of reporters on the sideline of the Aoleang festival here at The Heritage Kisama village today.
Along remarked that the PDA government is going forward in a very assertive manner, and this is going to bring sea of changes to the perceptions both from the country, abroad and from the State.
Mentioning that Nagaland is a very mysterious state in itself and tribal at the same time, he said, “there are many tribals in this country and everyone carries it’s unique identity but especially in Nagaland the very culture, the very ethics with which the traditional people have come through centuries is very unique and should still be explored and I think even we as Nagas who are living here from generations have still not known each other quite well or our places or our opportunity to allow tourism to grow which will really enhance the economy of the state at the same time, give employment to so many youngsters through out the state. So I think, we will see what to pitch in and I believe, that there will be positive response in each and every aspect, not only for Tourism but in every aspect by hosting the G20 here.”

On the issue of forming an opposition-less government, which Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio had hinted in his Budget speech, Along informed that there has been no directives till date from the BJP high command however, he asserted that the Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio is a very experienced and seasoned leader of the state and the Central leadership have believed in his leadership to lead the Naga people during this time and whatever he has spoken in the Assembly has been communicated with Delhi.
“As for me as the State President I have not received any directive but whichever is good for the state, we have already apprised the central leaders about the same so however it would go through let us see what happens in the days to come,” added Along.
With regard to the repealing of the Nagaland Municipal Act 2001, Along was of the view that the state cabinet and the Chief Minister have made a very inclusive decision in allowing more time for further discussions and deliberations so that, whenever the ULB polls happen it should happen according to the will of the people and for the people, to which he said is the right thing.
