Nchumbemo Patton wins 3rd Winter Open Airgun Shooting Competition in Wokha

Wokha: Lt Col D S Kushwah encourages people to use their talents in sports to win medals for State and country

Nchumbemo Patton has won the third edition of the Winter Open Airgun Shooting Competition organised by the Airgun Sporting Association of Nagaland at Likya Community Hall, Wokha. Mhathung Murry won the first runner-up position and Yibomo Odyuo secured the second runner-up spot in the competition that was held on Friday.

Chief Guest, Second in Command, 40 Assam Rifle, Lt Col D S Kushwah encouraged all the participants and members of Airgun Sporting Association of Nagaland (ASAN) and people gathered to take the initiative in organising such events to create positivity in the environment and the society.

Noting that Nagaland too have talented athletes who can bring laurel to the State, Lt Col D. S Kushwah urged the members of ASAN to encouraged people to participate and utilize their talents in this kind of sports to win medals for the State and the country.

He also invited the participants to join the armed forces and to approach him for guidance if anybody is interested.

In his welcome speech, ASAN President Ajamo Odyuo highlighted the achievements of the Winter Open Airgun Shooting Competition. He informed that the runner-up of the 1st edition secured a bronze at the Nagaland Olympics while the winner of the 2nd edition is now participating at the National level.

The Winter Open Airgun Shooting Competition held at Wokha witnessed the participation of 28 skilled shooters. Seven participants were awarded with consolation prizes whereas certificates and souvenirs were presented to all the participants.
