Raunaq Sahni, a filmmaker by profession, trained in screenwriting from the Film & Television Institute of India (FTII) and after working in the industry for five years, decided to take on YouTube seriously.

Sahni left his job in 2020 (after the first wave of the pandemic) and started making travel YouTube videos.

While he had started making videos in 2015, it was only in 2020 that he started to do it full-time.

Four months ago, Sahni did 100 days of solo travel across India with a limited budget of Rs 1,27,750. In the process, he has gained over 1.5 million YouTube subscribers.

Now the travel vlogger solo travels across the country, bringing lesser heard stories and adventures to his YouTube audiences.

Sharing his experience about visiting Nagaland and Kiphire recently, Sahni shared: “Across my 100 days travel, I particularly found Nagaland to be very interesting. After doing Dzükou and visiting Mon district, I came back for more adventures. I came to Kiphire to visit Mt Saramati. I did my own research (google and travel guide issued by government of Nagaland) and fount it to be a very interesting and adventurous place.”

The travel vlogger added that the Naga people were the kindest people he had met during his travels and said the Nagas would go beyond their way to help someone who needed help.

“I would like the mention Rovi of Dawn Homestay in particular because on my way back from Dzükou, I hurt my leg but she took care of me and my injury. When she had no reason to help, she did it anyways. Now I consider her and her family as my own,” said Sahni.

Speaking about another person he had met, Sahni shared that he found Naga people to be very passionate about their careers even in the remotest of places. He met Palaie in Longwa village who dreamt of going to Bangalore to study baking and to later come back and open his own bakery in Mon.

Sahni said, “Palaie is now working in some 5-star hotel in Bangalore, learning and working in the hospitality industry. I wish he fulfils his dream.”

Sahni said he also looks forward to visiting Singrep village for the mesmerising view of the ocean of clouds covering Kiphire town and Mt Saramati, the highest peak in Nagaland.
He also mentioned that he has learnt more about different tribes and the concept of Eastern Nagaland.

The vlogger shared that he always believes that “no matter what little resources we might have, whatever we want from life we can get it. It’s just that we have to keep working towards them.”
