A joint consultative meeting involving 15 apex tribal hohos, Dimapur-based tribal hohos and the Nagaland Foothill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) was held on May 19, 2026 in Dimapur to review the progress of the Nagaland Foothills Road project and to deliberate on a way forward.
The meeting was convened following earlier resolutions adopted during an April 14, 2026 meeting at Hotel Saramati, Dimapur, and in continuation of appeals from apex tribal hohos urging a pause on proposed agitation related to the issuance of work orders under Phase-II of the project implemented under the SASCI loan scheme.
According to the resolution note issued by the NFHRCC Media Cell, the agenda focused on strengthening constructive dialogue between stakeholders, with emphasis on expediting the Foothills Road project, widely described as the ultimate desire of the people of Nagaland.
However, the meeting recorded the absence of four apex tribal bodies—Ao Senden, Konyak Union, Lotha Hoho and Phom Peoples Council—which expressed inability to participate, citing their decision not to support any organisation engaging in protest against the State Government at this juncture.

The meeting also noted regret messages from the Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) and the Chakro Public Organization (CPO), which stated alignment with directives from their respective apex bodies while maintaining no adverse position against the NFHRCC’s efforts.
Despite the absences, participants held marathon deliberations and adopted a three-point resolution. The house resolved to convene an immediate joint meeting involving all 15 apex tribal hohos, Dimapur-based tribal hohos and the NFHRCC, to be initiated by the Dimapur-based tribal hohos.
It further resolved that a joint inspection of all ongoing Foothills Road construction sites would be conducted at the earliest, with timing to be finalised by the committee.
It also urged the NPWD, R&B to immediately finalise issuance of work orders through an open tender process in line with the administrative approval under the SASCI loan scheme.
